Its been a while.... inspiration hasn't abounded.... this is not good.  I had high hopes for this year, but they are falling a little flat... I begin to think that I would be pretty insulted if a lecturer were to express any kind of admiration for my work.  I appear to be pretty safe on that count for the moment however.

Presentations are over... This is a good thing :).  And I really never ever in several million years, thought I would say this, but I actually enjoyed doing the presentation more than any of my other work.  and lets face it... This is not my field... Im not saying I did well... (probably failed miserably).  But here we have helpful lecturers.... (if a little doubtful taste-wise as  to art...)  ... and yes I know... This is Fine Art... a truly foolish name for something so un-fine...  (I do hope nobody ever reads this...)

Soon (very soon.... after two nightshifts and a pantomime in London) we have assessment... more fun I guess.  I have a wall full of "pretty" stuff... which is a bad start in itself... I'm not good with dark shocking and  disturbing... I dislike being disturbed immensely.

oh, and assessment for textiles is on the same day.  This may be a little better (uni-wise that is) but this I am unsure on... I'll let you know...  Wish it was Christmas......

Yay :)  finally got my assessment feedback for the essay...... note the smiley face.........  This is because i got  2.1 :)  which is brilliant for me, you understand..... It did however take me forever to write.  I'm happy with this, because lets face it.... essay writing is not my strong point :)

Also... since i last posted on here....... I  think i failed to say that I got my other results too...
actually they were all 2.1s for all three modules... posted one of them , but cant remember which we had first... it will be in previous post.  but 2.1s abound so its good :)  not as good as a 1st .... but there is always next year lol .... anyway... battery is dying on me again... its 2.40am and im only awake because someone I dont know, was kind enough to call me on mobile at 2am  :(   .............  see you next time :)

assessment feedback for textiles

Its pretty good at the moment... everything is handed in and nothing is looming :)  My essay is abandoned into the nether.... (and handed in )

I found my textiles workshop feedback (almost by accident...) it's 2.1, which is the same as last time for textiles, but a slightly higher 2.1 (63%) which is good ... I guess.  anyhows, battery is running out , it's 4.18am  and i cant be bothered to plug in .... so thats it for now :)

It's a bit later.... Hand in for essay is looming :P.  Everything else is handed in already (which is good)... Results?... yeah... anyway, I have no idea when we get those... but i will let you know.  I'll post my  (really bad..) essay on here... (After it's marked of course...).

Anyhow, these days, we are helping with the degree show... Painting boards and stuff.... for level 6's, in between major panic sessions with essay... (well, thts a lie really... but i probably should panic... maybe tomorrow...)  Today I have a tutorial at 12, so that should tell me how amazing  (or appalling) my essay is.

Then I have a dyslexic tutorial??  first ever... couldn't fit me in before apparently.... but I fear tis too late to save my essay.... besides I refuse to rewrite the damn thing... I shall merely fail with dignity (as the saying goes... well, actually I just made up the saying.... but who's to know??)

The really annoying thing about uni .....

...is when you are quite happily floundering as normal waiting for yr tutors to wander to you... (seems reasonable .. right... as they have stated that they will split the group and come to everyone in turn...)  So yr quite happily embroidering an apple on a branch,  cos they recently introduced you to this...,  and out of the mist.. A tutor appears... given that they have pulled up a seat with all yr near neighbours... you smile somewhat stupidly but expectantly at an adjacent pew, which they proceed to ignore whilst hovering, intent on escape and muttering.... ahhh ... laura... yr ok aren't you...  Errrr... No!   Arent I paying £4000 per year to not be skipped past .

So when you mutter .... not really... they then hover for just a few seconds longer and then vanish once more into the mist....

It really wasnt worth leaving my bed for....

And now I have to leave my bed again... for a tutorial :(  (I do hope it last for more than 2 minutes...)

Reading Week.............

Well Im still being textiles... I shall post some on here soon...
Its reading week at the mo.... translation half term, havent been in at all... but surprisingly I have done some  work.

Not by choice of course, but we have to hand in a draft of our essays, on Tuesday next,  So it seemed a good idea to do some really.  I am appallingly bad at essays but actually don't hate them as much as you would suppose.  I'm also dyslexic, which I wasnt going to tell you about really, but explains my lack of capitals and the occasional missing off of the ends of words, which I think I have typed but haven't.  Being lazy... I'm not terribly fond of re-reading....

Anyway, back to the essay.  It's on a work by John Everette Millais, called Mariana.  Luckily we got to chose, within a timescale.  I'm not allowed to draw Pre-Raphaelite type females at uni,  Not sure why.  But the tutors don't like them or think that I am rubbish at them... which is a shame , because I rather like drawing attractive females as opposed to ugly creatures that apparently are far more contemporary.  I will add one of mine to here, because I like them and this is my blog so I can do what I like on here lol.  Also this is the reason I am doing textiles... I find it hard to create things which i really  dont like .... and ... surprisingly, I am really enjoying embroidery at the moment... You can draw in stitch... wonder if I could get away with drawing a female in stitch.... It could be my transcription. (we have to transcribe the subject of our essay for workshop...)...

Maybe... once i have failed... or scraped through with my essay... I shall post it here... you can see how I'm not good at this...

Textiles

Didnt go in today, but I did embroider a page of my sketchbook with some leaves and red flowers growing across it.... it took me ages.... i think its good.  I made my sketchbook again and leather bound the spine and fabric covered the boards... then painted the pages... I suspect no one is going to be impressed, but i am... and so long as i am impressing myself... then I'm happy.

I've done kind if heaps of textiles this week.  I hope the powers that be, in the hallowed halls are happy with it... I'm thinking I probably have done the wrong kind of thing again, but I will let you know lol

... Still the 1st day back... well, technically i guess it's the night after the 1st.... but anyway...

I truly had something to say... hence the new post... however i appear to have forgotten what it was whilst in the throes (is tht a word??) of my title.... hence the waffling...

Anyways, as I cant remember ( it may come back to me... never a certainty though, but then again, what is?), I may as well say... that I'm thinking of going for textiles.... uni doesn't like my figures :( .... i'm quite fond of them personally, but uni has no taste and textiles is seeming like an easy option to me, and i am , after all, basically lazy, so the easy option is sounding like an easy option to me .... :)

I still have no idea what this post was going to be about btw, so I guess I'll come back to you on it....

1st day back :)

So it's back to the busy days.... this may b good... I'm not entirely sure yet... I'm a little fond of my lazy days...

This morning was a little yawn-makingly boring, not to mention not the most comfortable as we were perched upon a cupboard ( which rocked) to watch a dvd about someone elses art.... not my favourite, but apparently necessary...

... now we get to study processes.... which appears to be pretty free choice-wise.  Anyways we have 2 words a verb and a noun to begin processes, for a week.   After that, I think, it becomes a little free-er, which could mean a good term... not entirely sure yet I need to think about it and besides it's 3am and I don't think tht well at 3am (or anytime really).

Possibly a sandwich is called for :)

back to uni tomorrow.....

Okay... so tomorrow its back to the hallowed halls again :)  Oh and guess what ????  I didn't even fail the last module.... which, whilst it may not be passing with flying colours its pretty good from my point of view.... as lets face it I was pretty convinced of failure with flying colours, particularly in the group presentations... and we did rather well in the end, with one person missing, cos she left the uni.  So anyway, 2'1s abound at the moment... though i havent quite worked out the studio practice module result due to the fact the the mark isnt on there :P... but there are 4 "x's" in the 2'1 boxes and 4 more in the 2'2... but either way it will do me... it's probably 2'2.  Two 2'1s and a 2'2 is good by my reckoning :)

I guess it's downhill all the way from now lol...

Oh yh... and i made the most amazing  sketchbooks over the hol's.... and leather bound them too :)))) .... I love them... no one else will though... Naturally,  I have painted in them... prob all the wrong stuff for the next module ... but .... we'll see again :P  :)
